The Shantics | Mind Pop | Single Review

This London based quartet are off to a golden start, The Shantics started off 2018 by releasing their first official release and signing to Goldun Egg.

The Shantics released their debut single Mind Pop in January, the track is a great first insight into what’s to come from them this year. Mind Pop this is a solid tune, it’s got everything you could desire from an indie rock track; smooth vocals, catchy lyrics and electrifying riffs that’ll have you looping the song on repeat.

The introduction is a soothing layering of guitars and symbols with frontman Jimmy’s caramel vocals coming in instantly. The track keeps you in anticipation throughout the entire song, constantly building you up for an explosion of energy and then stripping it all back down again. When it finally lets loose it’s a sweet release of indie rock goodness, it’s that moment you imagine live would be incredible to witness, where everyone would feel it coming and just go for it.

Mind Pop is easily listening, it’s well written, well recorded and packed into a tight bundle of professional level stuff. The Shantics have produced a great song that really just helps the argument that there is more talent in the up and coming scene than the mainstream seems to want to acknowledge. These guys are definitely another band to keep your eye on this year, I expect when they start gigging further astray from London their fan base will increase hugely!
