Late Night Legacy | Beat Up | Single Review

Late Night Legacy have got to be one of the best bands to have emerged from Leeds, giving 2017 everything they had, they have started off the new year in the same way. They released their latest single Beat Up at the start of January. There is no mistaking this new track is a Late Night Legacy tune, the quartet have such a distinctive sound, which can be summed up as loud, funky rock and roll.

Along with all their previous releases, it’s near impossible to listen to Late Night Legacy without becoming uplifted, their music will raise your spirits and motivate you, as well as making you want to move. The lyrics combined with the funky bass, gives out nothing but positive vibes, a refreshing change.  Something I love about this band is the way they present themselves through their photos and especially in their music videos, they don’t appear take themselves too seriously. Their music videos are humours and they appear like they’re always having fun, and that goes hand in hand with their music. They’re fun to listen to, their videos will make you laugh, what’s not to love? They simply are a loveable band.

Beat Up is full of energy, front man Ryan Kitto gives his all with his vocals and shows once again his powerful voice. I think one of the most important aspects of Late Night Legacy is the bass, that’s where their unique edge comes in, the guitar and drums are what bring in that raw rock sound, but the bass provides the groove, they've found a perfect balance between the two sounds that create something unique. It keeps their songs interesting because after every verse/bridge/chorus you don't know what's around the corner, they keep you on your toes.

Beat Up, following all their releases, is well written and neat, there’s no loose ends or poor quality. Everything about it is professional and top knotch, another perfect example that bands from the underground scene deserve more attention than they get. I somehow still have not seen these guys live but I can only imagine the crazy amount of energy they put into their performance, they're extremely high up on my list of bands I'm dying to see live. I look forward to seeing what Late Night Legacy achieve in 2018, I can confidently say I predict big things.
