BUTE | Can You Hear Me? | Single Review

Wales: a small country on the West coast of the UK. It makes up 4.8% of the islands population. Yet, some of the greatest bands of our time have wriggled their way out of that little land; Catfish and the Bottlemen, Feeder and Stereophonics to name a few.

No, this isn’t a Geography lesson, but the review for a debut single. An exciting new four-piece from Cardiff named BUTE are about to start their climb on the musical ladder. And believe me, they’re beginning with power, passion and a pure belter. I’ve listened to it more times than I would like to admit in the build up to this review, and each time I’ve found something new to fan-boy over.

Their debut single released on the 14th April this year. Can You Hear Me? is a heavy indie tune that screams success from the off. Loud and untamed, the song reflects that rebellious tone once dominated by the likes of Bloc Party and Arctic Monkeys, yet recycles it into a fresh, new sound that is sure to climb its way to popularity. Lovers of alternative rock will fall for BUTE like the average grandma falls for Elvis, as will anyone who recognises musical talent when they hear it.
And if BUTE sound like your kind of thing, then it’ll be worth seeing them at one of their upcoming gigs:

LIVE DATES
 21/04 - SomaFest, London
 05/05 - Moseley Arms Birmingham
 17/05 Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
 19/05 Le Truskel, Paris
 24/05 Record Junkee, Sheffield
 01/06 Nambucca, London

If the band master the stage like they master the recording studio, then you’d be crazy not to attend at least one of those shows. Keep your eyes peeled and let the anticipation grow: BUTE are likely to become the next big thing to sprout from Wales. And you better be prepared to have your Spotify on repeat and your ears adorned. BUTE mark the discovery of a band with true potential.
