It’s
no secret how much we love Late Night Legacy here at Denim + Leather, the Leeds
band are one of our absolute favourites. Lovely lads providing the world with
some big tunes and a lot of happiness!
So we are incredibly honoured that they came
to us and asked us announce some new and exciting news on their behalf…
The
band are welcoming Andy Hounslow as their new drummer, an exciting new chapter
to Late Night Legacy’s musical adventure!
We
spoke frontman Ryan Kitto about how Andy Hounslow came to join Late Night
Legacy.
“Once we received the news that our previous
drummer was stepping down from the band to focus on another career path, we
booked 3 months off all gigs to look for his replacement as they were big boots
to fill & needed someone that ticked alot of boxes, We advertised &
stuck posters up all over Leeds, sponsored posts on Gumtree, Join My Band,
various session musician groups and pages and got an awesome response, I think
we had over 60 applications!”
“We auditioned around 5 incredible drummers
from all over the UK until we found Andy. Once his personality shone through
and he became comfortable with us, he never missed a single beat, played
tightly alongside Kyles bass and brought new life to our tracks. As usual I'd
throw the odd strange line at him to see how he responded & as he's now the
fourth member of LNL I guess he said the right answer”
“Andy
is an incredible drummer and such a great person, not only is he helping take
our songs in a new anthemic direction and injecting new life into our sound,
he's also such a laugh, seriously dedicated and gels with the boys very well.”
“Andy applied via Gumtree, much like I did 2
years ago to join the original band! I guess we owe 50% of this bands
membership to Gumtree haha!”
“He's also got some cool Tattoo's that's making
us all want to get inked up!”
So who is Andy Hounslow? Well don’t worry we’ve got a little catch up for
you to get to know him! On a personal level as a huge fan of Late Night Legacy,
I’m really excited to see how Andy joining the band will take them in a new
musical direction!
“I’m originally from Sutton Coldfield
near Birmingham and I moved to Leeds in 2010 to study Music Production at Leeds
Beckett Uni. I’ve been playing drums for around 12 years in a few different
bands with varied styles including Indie, Funk and Ska. Overall, I would class
myself as a rock drummer but I’ve always had a soft spot for funk.”
“Through a stroke of luck, I stumbled across
the lads’ advert one day and followed the link to “Beat Up” on YouTube - I was
instantly a huge fan. The musicianship, style and incredible song-writing
really appealed to me, so I listened to the rest of their tracks and added them
all to my playlists.”
“I replied to the ad thinking I wouldn’t
stand a chance so I’m really grateful they got in touch. After jamming with
them, I thought even if I didn’t get offered the position, I’d still be a
massive fan. Luckily though, I got the text to say they would like to offer me
the position and I was the new drummer for Late Night Legacy! As you can
imagine, this was followed by a fairly heavy head the next day after celebrating
the good news.”
“I’m really looking forward to throwing
everything I have into this, creating some amazing music and playing great gigs
with a cracking group of mates.”
The band are working on a new single with
Andy which they’re planning on releasing this summer, I have no doubt this will
be followed by another awesome (and probably humorous) video! So get their currently
tunes in your ears, and get ready to open your arms wide and give Andy some
love! We can’t wait to see their new music and see them on stage doing what
they do best!
